Judges comments: There were some beautiful works submitted, and in some categories such as Features and News made for long discussions as we went over the entries. Overall, if people edited their stories down to tighter edits there would have been more in contention. Also, many images submitted as sports stories or features should have been sent as sports singles, and those could have been contenders. A few images stuck out due to heavy-handed toning, which immediately disqualified them. Finally, when photographing the homeless and submitting these for awards, a higher level of dignity should be practiced as they are not merely a spectacle. Try speaking with them and getting their names (and we need to be told if they preferred not to give their names).
