UPDATED...UPDATED...UPDATED....
Hi all,

Some information for those planning to attend Photojournalism 2013, in Calgary on April 26-28, 2013 at the Delta Bow Valley hotel, for a weekend of learning, inspiration, awards, networking and involvement with Canada’s largest group of photojournalists:

REGISTERING
You can register for the conference and also get your NPAC 2013 NPOY Awards tickets online by clicking on the “Store” link near the top of this web page.

There are rates for NPAC members and non-members. There is also a single-day pass.
Please note that the non-member rates include the cost of an NPAC membership and you become a member when you purchase these passes.

For those who cannot use the online payment system in the NPAC Store to purchase conference passes and NPOY Awards cruise tickets, please mail your payments to the following:

NPAC

ACCOMMODATION
The Delta Bow Valley (where the conference is being held) is offering a $119.00 per night rate. That rate is simply unheard of for downtown Calgary and, quite frankly, there would be no way we could hold our event downtown without it.

Call 1.800.665.8571 and quote code: GFANPA13 to get this rate for any or all of the following nights: April 25, 26, 27 and 28th.

We have a block of rooms allotted to us at this rate and they are filling up fast. We can increase the number of rooms allotted to us but only if they have them available.

SPEAKERS
The conference is on for three days and Ben has been working hard on some fabulous speakers (although, the list is still subject to change). We will update the list when info becomes available.

Todd Korol, Independent
This will be the most un-photographic event of the weekend, but perhaps one of the most important if you are a freelance photographer. This workshop will be about money, your money and how to spend, borrow, save and keep some for retirement.

Anastasia Taylor-Lind, VII Photo
Anastasia Taylor-Lind (b. 1981) is an English/Swedish documentary photographer who is a member of VII photo agency. She is based in London and works for clients such as National Geographic, GEO Germany, The Telegraph Magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, Marie Claire and Time.

TRADE SHOW AND PORTFOLIO REVIEWS
This popular event will be held on Friday night after the first day of speakers starting at 6 pm in the Garden Patio Room at the Delta Bow Valley Hotel.

This is a heavily-attended event that gets you a hands-on look at all the latest gear from our industry suppliers. In the same room, you can have your portfolio reviewed during one-on-one sessions with a number of experts in our field. Sign up for these 15 to 20 minute sessions at the conference on Friday.

The following companies are confirmed to be at the Trade Show.

The Calgary Herald
The Calgary Herald engages readers through our award winning content with the accuracy and integrity Calgarians have come to count on. We reach more than 550,000 Calgarians each week and offer integrated advertising solutions to effectively reach target audiences through a variety of print, online, digital, and mobile platforms.

The Camera Store with a guest representative from Leica Cameras
Calgary’s premier photographic outlet is a full-line dealer for the entire range of conventional and digital photographic equipment and supplies and they have the knowledge base to back it up!

They are dedicated to supporting and promoting photography on a number of levels and are perennial sponsors of this conference. They don’t offer a lot of hype or fanfare, just great products, great service, great prices … great photography!

Beau Photo
Vancouver’s favorite professional photography supplier will be on hand again this year with a ton of gear ranging from the latest digital cameras and top lighting choices to the greatest gadgets you just can’t live without. They have a lot so be prepared to spend some time at their booth.

Canon Canada

This industry supplier of still and video cameras will be showing off their latest and greatest cameras and lenses plus other accessories. Canon is also conducting a camera clinic at our conference.

London Drugs
London Drugs has stores in more than 35 major markets throughout BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The pharmacy is still the heart of the business, but they also offer a full service computer department, cosmetics ranging from lipgloss to high-end face creams, furniture, cameras, high quality photo finishing, cordless phones and plasma televisions. More people buy their small appliances in London Drugs than any other place in Western Canada. All told, they serve over 45 million customers each year, and are still growing.

Nikon
The sponsor of our National Picture of the Year Sports Action category, Nikon Canada will be there, too. Of course, they’ll have their line-up of excellent cameras and accessories with knowledgeable sales staff to answer all your questions.

Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
The yearly sponsor of the Student Photographer of the Year.  From apprenticeships to baccalaureate degrees, polytechnic institutions offer a range of credentials in diverse program areas. Focused on experience-oriented training that provides students with the skills they need to find high-quality jobs, polytechnics are also committed to working closely with industry and to promoting applied research and innovation.

Vistek
With over 15,000 products available online, there's an excellent chance that if you need it, Vistek will have it. Complete with in-depth product information in most cases and always backed up by the most knowledgeable staff of experts in the business. They have an average of over 15 years of experience each, so they're well-prepared to help you find the right equipment for you.   Vistek also sponsors the Team Multimedia category for the NPOY.

Walkstool Canada
Colin Horabin is back at our trade show offering the best option when it comes to sitting around. The Walkstool is a light portable seat that any photographer would find indispensable. (It’s super light and strong, plus it collapses into a small package that slings over your shoulder for easy carrying.
