Thoughtful story by CBC's Neil Macdonald about Justin Trudeau's return to 24 Sussex, his mother Margaret and her interest in photography. Several veteran Ottawa photos – Rod MacIvor, Fred Chartrand, Lynn Ball – are mentioned in the piece.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-politics-margaret-trudeau-neil-macdonald-1.3282894Margaret did one or two assignments for People Magazine in the late 1970's. Many news photographers were indignant and demanded an explanation. People's photo editor was invited to London to speak at the Ontario News Photographers Association Seminar. She told us that People was a celebrity magazine, Margaret was a celebrity and that was good for the magazine. If the same thing happened today most of us wouldn't bat and eye. The media has changed.
