Old media should get a Victoria Cross
« on: May 26, 2012, 11:34 AM »
Could the Allied Army win WW2 in a world with  modern multi media ? While  the publishers of newspapers  says the story is a HOLD , multi media and web reporters peer out their windows  onto the English countryside  fallowing the night movements  thousands of troops and hundreds of  moving army trucks .The sounds of aircraft roar by .  They are Tweeting and blogging along the way . Smart phones  live stream video of thousands of ships in a massive armada moving away from English ports on D-Day morning. The tweet would simply say D-Day Today , Sailing Off To Kick Ass , On to Victory  . World history would be completely different.

The  War was going badly , the newspaper business  and the intelligence community were in desperate times , the Allies were losing in Europe ,  Aug 1940  Britain battled for  her very existence in a war it didn't start . The US attacked at Pearl in 1941 ,. The newspaper business and the new media of radio were telling heroic stories .They did their part  keeping up spirits of those back home and war bonds were being sold .  Eventually the  Allies were victorious after a hard march on many continents .
Before we put ourselves  into  semi retiremnent and start publishing three days a week , let us remember we helped win a war . We helped loose a few too . If we do not find a way to lead no one will fallow.
