WBYO - Photo Program
« on: January 19, 2019, 06:22 PM »
Hey y'all. Let's help out with this great cause that Trevor Hagan is working on:

The West Broadway Youth Outreach is a program that caters to inner city youth. Specifically, lot of children from immigrant families. In 2018, the program director, Ken Opaleke, was awarded The Order of Manitoba for his ongoing contributions to the community. The WBYO offers drop in programs after school and serves about 800 kids each year.

I plan to put cameras into their hands, and to teach them how to use them to tell stories.

My initial fundraising goal is $5000 to buy 5 or 6 DSLR kits, a few different lenses and some point and shoot cameras. 18 hours after launching the gofundme, almost $600 has been raised and the response has been overwhelming. There have been tons of shares and comments across all social channels.

Long term, I hope we can plan some events to show the work produced. I also think there will be an opportunity to have some published in the paper here.
