Once upon a time, when Canada was part of the Empire, photographs were registered for copyright and one copy was sent to the British Library for copyright protection across the Empire. (Too bad that doesn't happen today) Now the British Library in partnership with Wikipedia is releasing and posting thousands of the photos.
