This seems to have gone unnoticed:
In yesterday's (Feb.20) The Globe and Mail, there was a two-page spread on the current protests in Ukraine. The article contained one very large photo of Independence Square filled with protesters, gov't troops, fires, smoke and lots of blackened destruction.
Immediately below this photo was a *very* large ad for the University of Manitoba which showed a smiling kid and a big headline "I AM A REBEL"
Certainly this juxtaposition was quite funny. But inquiring minds want to know:
1) Didn't anyone notice this before going to press? (I know that ad spaces are often left empty on unfinished pages but surely ...)
2) Was the advertiser made aware of the unfortunate ad position?
3) Was this ad placement done on purpose because the University of Manitoba is home to the Centre for Ukrainian Studies and perhaps someone was trying to send a message?
