You're probably tired of reading claims that a contest-winning photo must have altered. Seemingly, everything is fake and conspiracy theories abound.
An article in Spiegel, titled
Enhanced Reality: Exploring the Boundaries of Photo Editing, has a lot of the same old same old information. But it also talks about an Italian company, named
10b, that enhances pictures specifically so that they can win photo contests.
This might bring up a comparison to businesses, such as in Venezuela, that work with women so that they can win specific beauty pageants - cosmetic surgery, style makeovers, etc.
Should photo contests require that the photographer light, shoot and process the images themselves? Or perhaps, like with movies, photo contests should award Best Picture, Best Lighting, Best Directing, Best Producer, Best Story, Best Photography, .....?
