2015 National Pictures of the Year Launched

The News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC) is proud to launch the ninth edition of its annual National Pictures of the Year (NPOY) awards competition with a call for entries until January 31, 2016. The rules and submission guidelines are available here.

The 2015 Canadian Photojournalist of the Year and 2015 Canadian Photograph of the Year will each be awarded a $2000 top prize. These are sponsored by The Canadian Press and The Globe and Mail, respectively. Other category winners will be awarded $500 for First Place, $200 for Second Place and $100 for Third Place.

NPAC and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology are pleased to award a prize of $1000 to the top portfolio of images by a student. To allow students more time to produce images during the school year, the entry period for Student Photographer of the Year will be from March 1, 2016, to April 1, 2016.

Winners will be announced at the 2015 NPOY Awards Ceremony in Toronto on April 23, 2016, during the annual NPAC Photojournalism Conference.

This competition would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors:
