Feature

The cop jumping had a layer of emotion that the others lacked. The skaters from above was a unique vantage point. The curling reflection was good, but it took us a while to realize it was a curler in the foreground.

This was a superb news photo from what could have been a very boring assignment. Great angle, crop and emotion.

OSHAWA -- May McLean, a volunteer with the Oshawa Senior Citizens Centres, was recognized by Joe Dickson, MPP for Ajax-Pickering, for her service during the 2017 Volunteer Service Awards at General Sikorski Hall. Ontario is recognizing more that 11,000 volunteers at 55 different ceremonies from March to June. Mar. 31, 2017.

India Coble, 26, moved to north of Flint, Michigan to the Madison Park projects Beecher in the summer of  2016 on the recommendation of her doctor because the water from her taps in Flint was damaging her skin due to lead contamination, especially on her hands.

We loved how the eyes on the puck photo looked like a soccer game. It was clean and had good emotion. The skaters in a row photo lacked a descriptive caption. We loved the photo, but wished the one guy's arm wasn't cropped off.
