Along with our sponsor Sony, we are very pleased to announce our keynote speaker at this year's NPAC conference in Vancouver on May 8 & 9.

Tupac Shakur photographed by Eli Reed, 1992.

Eli Reed

Eli Reed has been associated with one of the world's leading photo agencies since the mid 1980s when Magnum Photos was attracted to his work in Central American countries El Salvador and Guatemala. Reed became a full member of the legendary agency in 1988 and has been covering stories around the world since. His documentaries include work on child poverty in America, Beirut, the ousting of Baby Doc in Haiti, Hong Kong and Panama. As a premiere member of the agency, Reed is running workshops on documentary photography around the world. He teaches and lectures as a Professor of Photojournalism at the University of Texas. He has taught at Harvard, New York University and Columbia.

As a Sony Associate Artisan of Imagery, Reed continues to work on social issues including those related to colour in the USA and abroad. His new book, "A Long Walk Home", consisting of over 250 images, spans the full range of his subjects and his evolution as a photographer. The book comes out this May.
