I am very pleased to announce our third speaker at this years NPAC conference in Vancouver on May 8 & 9.



                                             

Darcy Padilla


                      Darcy Padilla is a photojournalist, documentary photographer, and lecturer.

Padilla’s awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, W. Eugene Smith Award, Alexia Foundation Grant, Open Society Institute Fellowship, Getty Images Grant, World Press Photo, Photoreporter Grant, and the 2015 Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship.

Published internationally in The New York Times, Le Monde, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Time, Newsweek, Wired, Rolling Stone, among others.

Padilla’s recent book, Family Love, is based on her award-winning documentary The Julie Project that follows the life of Julie Baird and her family for 21 years. Starting with a chance encounter in 1993, Family Love is an intimate look at poverty, AIDS, and social issues. 

Padilla is a member of Agence VU in Paris and lives in San Francisco.
