Who is everyone using for camera equipment these days? Any success or horror stories?

A link to info on my blog.

I used to use CG&B Insurance, formerly known as Unionville Insurance and currently called Gallagher Insurance. I made two claims over the span of ~25 years with no issues. One claim settled in a week (they just sent me a cheque) and the other claim in about three weeks (I had to first repurchase what was stolen and then email them copies of sales receipts).

I’ve been using Front Row Insurance for the past six years with no issues and no claims. I switched from CG&B to Front Row because Front Row was a few hundred dollars per year cheaper. The CG&B package is much more comprehensive but it may include things you don’t need.

You need coverage for “mobile gear” – stuff that travels with you. You most likely need “studio contents” and/or “office contents” to cover anything that sits at home – desktop computer, office furniture, printer, scanner, etc.

Liability insurance covers both a liability claim against you and the related legal costs, all up to a certain limit. Some customers and some venues may require you to have liability insurance.

Thanks for the insights Warren. I’ve been with Front Row and haven’t ever had to make a claim, but just was curious what else was out there. Seems they have the market cornered, but I can’t imagine there’s too much demand for other options.
