2015 NPOY Student Photographer of the Year Nominees

The nominees for Student Photographer of the Year are (in alphabetical order):

Andrew Johnson, Loyalist College.
Zachary Prong, Loyalist College.
Jesse Winter, Carleton University.

Judges comments:

We were impressed with the submissions in this year’s student category. Every portfolio had strong images but the top three really stood out with stronger overall portfolios. These three nominees showed a higher level of maturity in their approach to sensitive issues and they pushed their craft further.

Side note: We did feel that one of [these three finalists] may have placed higher but she/he did not fulfill the sports requirement of the category. Trust us, we tried hard to find one in the portfolio. Having to include two sports photos is too restrictive. We would like to recommend that the organizers consider changing these requirements for future contests in light of our changing profession.
