Title: Liwa Mairin: New Book from Valerian Mazataud
Post by: Ali Ledgerwood on May 13, 2021, 08:23 PM
Valerian Mazataud is publishing a new photo book.

Liwa Mairin is a documentary folk tale based on the legend of the Miskito mermaid, an aboriginal nation from the Honduran jungle where men earn a living by scuba-diving fishing.

A former scuba instructor, and now Montreal based photojournalist, Mazataud spent several weeks in the area and published various stories about the Miskito divers. This book is a new point of view on my documentary images. The narrative is more inspired by folk tales or poetry than reportage.

The book can be bought here until May 18th: https://fr.ulule.com/liwa-mairin (https://fr.ulule.com/liwa-mairin) in French. (In english, with this approximative auto-translation: https://tinyurl.com/4z9ajfhh (https://tinyurl.com/4z9ajfhh) )
