Stacy Kranitz’s work explores history, representation and otherness within the documentary tradition. She uses images to consider the limitations of social constructs.
Kranitz was born in Kentucky and received a BFA from New York University and an MFA from the University of California, Irvine. Her work has been featured in publications including Adbusters, Elle, Granta, Mother Jones, New York Times Magazine, Oxford American, Rolling Stone, Vice, and Wired. In 2015 Time magazine named her Instagram photographer of the year. She is represented by Little Big Man Gallery in Los Angeles.
Stacy will dissect an upcoming 5 part series that will be published this month on VICE.COM that she pitched, produced and shot herself. Exploring the decision making process and the trials of putting together a larger project for an online publication. Stacy will also touch on the 8 pieces she shot for magazines and online publications last year that started from personal projects.
