ACCOMMODATION

The Delta Vancouver Suites is offering a $149.00 per night rate. This includes a free continental breakfast, wi-fi and local calls.  That rate is simply unheard of for downtown Vancouver in high season and, quite frankly, there would be no way we could hold our event downtown without it.
Click here to book  https://www.deltahotels.com/Groups/Delta-Vancouver-Suites-Groups/News-Photographers-Association-of-Canada.  Alternatively, you can call 1-888-890-3222 and quote the Group Name (News Photographers Association of Canada) to get this rate. The hotel is located at 550 West Hastings Street.

We have a block of rooms allotted to us at this rate and they are filling up fast. We can increase the number of rooms allotted to us but only if they have them available.

The all-suite hotel in downtown Vancouver puts you at the heart of the city’s plentiful entertainment, business and transportation offerings. The property lies a block from the Canada Line rail system and within walking distance of art galleries, theatres, Stanley Park, Rogers Arena and BC Place Stadium. Perfect for business travellers, the hotel is also minutes from the Vancouver Convention Centre, the city’s central business district and government offices. Enjoy shopping the Granville Street mall and Robson Street or take in the vibrant dining scene and nightlife of Gastown and Yaletown.

SONY STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP WITH ELI REED OF MAGNUM (FRIDAY, MAY 8TH)
Eli Reed, Magnum Photo - Street Photography Workshop

Are you interested in street photography? Then this is the workshop for you.

We're teaming up with Eli Reed, a career photographer with Magnum Photo, for this Street Photography Workshop as part of the News Photographer Association of Canada weekend convention in Vancouver. Priority will be given to those attending the convention.

This year we'll be photographing exclusively with the Sony A7 cameras. This is the perfect camera for street photography. It's small, full-frame, quiet and has an outstanding lenses. If you don't have a Sony A7, no worries, we'll have one there for you to use.

Gastown is a living community of small shops, people on the street and open air markets. If you love street photography then this is ground zero in Vancouver.

We're shooting rain or shine, so if the weather turns ugly, bring your ugly clothes.

Since Sony is paying for this meetup, only Sony cameras can be used at this event. If you have a Sony A7 bring it along with extra batteries and memory cards. If you don't yet have a Sony camera, then we'll have one for you to use, just let us know.

If you own your own, then also let me know so I can keep track of how many I have to bring from Sony.

To sign up for the workshop go to the Sony event page at Meetup.com. You can find it here...
