ACCOMMODATION

The Ramada Limited is offering a $135.00 per night rate. This includes a free continental breakfast, wi-fi and local calls.  That rate is simply unheard of for downtown Vancouver in high season and, quite frankly, there would be no way we could hold our event downtown without it.

Call 1.888.389.5888 and quote the Group Name (NPAC) to get this rate for any or all of the following nights: May 22, 23, 24 or 25.  You can also email: info@ramadadowntownvancouver.com.

We have a block of rooms allotted to us at this rate and they are filling up fast. We can increase the number of rooms allotted to us but only if they have them available.

The Ramada Limited Downtown Vancouver hotel is located in the heart of the city within easy reach of many of the sites and attractions that Vancouver has to offer. A complimentary hot continental breakfast awaits you each morning, and stay connected to home with the free Wi-Fi.  Our 80 non-smoking rooms are equipped with flat screen tvs, air conditioning, hairdryers, iron/board, work desks, and in-room coffee.   Two blocks away, you may explore the cobble-stone roads, historic buildings, shops and cafes of Gastown.  Or take in the 360 degree view of our city and surrounding mountains from the Look Out Tower.  Take a stroll through bustling Chinatown, or browse the shops of Robson Street.  And enjoy a wide range of restaurants and cafes, just steps from our doorstep!

Here's a rundown of the weekend (subject to change):

TRADE SHOW AND PORTFOLIO REVIEWS (FRIDAY, MAY 23)

This popular event will be held in the Uber Lounge at the nearby Steamworks Brewing Company (the official watering hole for photojournalists), 375 Water Street, on Friday night after the first day of speakers starting at 6 pm.

This is a heavily-attended event that gets you a hands-on look at all the latest gear from our industry suppliers. In the same room, you can have your portfolio reviewed during one-on-one sessions with a number of experts in our field. Sign up for these 15 to 20 minute sessions at the conference on Friday.

The following companies are confirmed to be at the Trade Show:

The Camera Store with a guest representative from Leica Cameras.
Calgary’s premier photographic outlet is a full-line dealer for the entire range of conventional and digital photographic equipment and supplies and they have the knowledge base to back it up! They are dedicated to supporting and promoting photography on a number of levels and are perennial sponsors of this conference. They don’t offer a lot of hype or fanfare, just great products, great service, great prices … great photography!

Burke Mountain Leather
Handcrafted custom leather camera straps made on beautiful Burke Mountain by Vancouver Sun/Province photographer Jason Payne.

Beau Photo
Vancouver’s favorite professional photography supplier will be on hand again this year with a ton of gear ranging from the latest digital cameras and top lighting choices to the greatest gadgets you just can’t live without. They have a lot so be prepared to spend some time at their booth.

Canon Canada
This industry supplier of still and video cameras will be showing off their latest and greatest cameras and lenses plus other accessories. Canon is also conducting a camera clinic at our conference.

Nikon
The sponsor of our National Picture of the Year Sports Action category, Nikon Canada will be there, too. Of course, they’ll have their line-up of excellent cameras and accessories with knowledgeable sales staff to answer all your questions.

Canvas Plus
Canvas Plus specializes in canvas printing for professional photographers, providing them with top quality, accurate colour, sharp detail, superior workmanship and exceptional customer service.

Canadian Media Guild
The Canadian Media Guild is a democratic trade union representing 6,000 workers in the Canadian media. Our members work at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/Société Radio-Canada (CBC/SRC), The Canadian Press, Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP), TVO, TFO, the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (aptn), ZoomerMedia, Shaw Media and CKOI Radio Gatineau (Québec). We also represent media freelancers. - See more at: http://www.cmg.ca/en/about-us/#sthash.jbhtK0eC.dpuf

Ona Bags
Ona Bags are committed to providing you with premium camera bags and accessories that complement, not distract from, your personal style. Each of our products is handcrafted and designed to deliver uncompromising style, protection and utility.

Walkstool Canada
Colin Horabin is back at our trade show offering the best option when it comes to sitting around. The Walkstool is a light portable seat that any photographer would find indispensable. (I bought one last year and have used it covering sporting events, waiting outside courthouses and shooting the fireworks competition at English Bay.) It’s super light and strong, plus it collapses into a small package that slings over your shoulder for easy carrying.

Also, NPAC will have exclusive NPAC wear and other wares available for purchase.
