One of the best retired this week.
Ron Bull to Canada via Australia took a buy-out from the Star.
Ron is one of the truly great guys in the biz.
Never gets excited, never gets mean, never gossips, always quick to smile!
Ron would bring the goods when it mattered.
I would say one of the best in Canada.
For him never to have won an NNA baffles me.

Here are a few pictures we found in the archive.

Classic Ron Bull

Johnny and June

Ron could find a picture where there was none!

Classic!

Wet track at the old greenwood race track.

One of my all time favorites, what a Mentos moment!

That Bloody Aussie always comes back with a picture and sometimes a shiner.

We'll miss you at the office and on the streets Ronnie!
and We'll miss your pictures as well!

When I interned as a student at the Toronto Star darkroom way back in the summer of '88, I got to hang out with Ron for an afternoon as he ventured out on his assignments. He made me feel totally at ease. I had a great time watching him work and learning from him. A real stand-up, classy guy. I never met someone so humble.

Enjoy your retirement Ron!

In my books he was a true gentleman if there ever was one. Class act and always a pleasure to work beside.

ps-Does anyone really know what he actually stuffed into that huge Domke bag Huh

The guy taking a whiz I remember and love, but I hadn't seen the mentos pic - the two neck-brace folks on a train. Brilliant! I actually gathered folks around my computer to show them it. Almost fell out of my chair.

OK, we all know and love the Aussie! I see no mention of a send-off party. Is one in the planning stages at least.

When do we get to hoist a Fosters to Ron Bull's retirement.

I love the mentos picture, such a perfect capture and content! I always feel kind of melancholy whenever I hear another talent has gone off the boat. I am sure it would be great to hear each story that goes with the photos Ron Bull took.
