Wow, Norm Betts gets tossed by a bull at the Royal Winter Fair and gets right up after.
Sources say he has a couple broken ribs,

Ouch, really bad one. Lucky it really wasn't worse! Get well soon Norm.
Norm has been covering the Ontario rodeo circuit now for many years so he is very familiar with it, looks like he just misjudged how far he was from fence.

Photographer Zou Zheng won first place in the Sports category of the 2011 China International Press Photo Awards for a picture shot (http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/90783/7770391.html) at the same event two years ago. I suspect he will win the Sports category again this year.

I'd love to see how this photo plays in the National Newspaper Awards. A photographer as subject wins NNA, the hard way.

On a similar note:
Starting at about the 2:45 mark, watch the video (http://www.iltasanomat.fi/ravit/art-1424332310495.html) on this Finnish newspaper site. There's no need to understand Finnish.
This photographer was doing his normal thing and standing in his normal position. Fortunately, a horse, like a rodeo bull, is "soft" and this photographer, like Norm Betts, suffered relatively minor injuries.

It just happened again to Norm Betts. Apparently a cracked sternum and several broken ribs.

Betts was later quoted as saying, "I thought [the bull] had cleared and I was looking down at my cameras and that's the last I remember."
