April 28 2012 - Deerview Meats began as a small family-operated business in 2006 selling naturally processed venison in a licensed plant after which, demand for alternative meats spurred the expansion to a 9300 sq. ft state of the art abattoir in 2011. Furthermore the shift to alternative meat sources now allows the consumers/hunters to bring in their own animal to be butchered, or alternately, to have the store purchase an animal on their behalf, thus giving a choice to the consumer that simply did not exist several years ago. January 19, 2012 - Firefighters battle a fire at a condominium apartment complex in southwest Edmonton, Alberta. About 55 firefighters are on the scene. The fire at 1815 111A St. began at about 2:40 p.m and firefighters were expected to remain on the scene overnight. The building, called Heatheridge Estates, has 92 residents who have been evacuated.
